  1. 1

Draw the bonnet of the car. The front is very curved and the windscreen is less than 45 degrees.

  2. 2

Finish the shape of the car using almost a mirror image except the boot (or trunk) of the car is much shorter than the bonnet.

  3. 3

Draw circle for wheels. Remember that wheels are much further apart than most people expect. The back wheel is underneath where the rear windscreen joins the boot/trunk. The front wheel is underneath the bonnet.

  4. 4

    Add detail the the wheels.

  5. 5

Draw a line going behind the wheels to complete the outline of the car.

  6. 6

Add a slightly skewed rounded square for a side mirror.

  7. 7

Draw two vertical lines to separate the two windows.

  8. 8

Draw a curve from the top of the two line (drawn in the previous step) that:

    • Curves with the shape of the roof of the car
    • Then continue round until it reaches the bottom of the car/the wheel.
  9. 9

Draw a line across the bottom of the windows.

  10. 10

    Draw the lights.

    • The front and rear lights.
    • Tiny circle lights on the car doors.
    • The flashing siren on the roof.
  11. 11

Draw a division between the doors and the handles (which are joined together).

    • These police cars often have (hopefully) the word POLICE written on the side in capital letters.
  12. 12

Color in the car in the classic black and white design.

  1. 1

Draw the outline of the car using the image for guidance. Although the shape is more squarish than some cars, the corners are still very rounded.

  2. 2

Add the wheels. Car wheels are much further apart than most people expect One is almost right at the back the other is underneath where the windshield meets the bonnet. More than just circles, don't forget the tires and the metal part of the wheels.

  3. 3

Add a rim to the bottom of the car.

  4. 4

Draw a trapezium in the top half of the car where the windows will be.

  5. 5

Divide the windows into 3 parts. Note that one of these "dividers" is diagonal while the other is fairly vertical.

  6. 6

Add the back light of the car. This is drawn as a slight bulge on the rear of the car. Also a tiny triangle on the roof of the car.

  7. 7

Add details such as the side mirrors (an elongated and rounded triangle), the front light and door handles (two!).

  8. 8

Start coloring in. The wheels are a dark grey and the main body is a dirty white.

    • Typical English police car design consists of alternate white and blue squares on the side.
    • Color the rear light in red.
  9. 9

Add the flashing light on top of the car in blue.

How do I draw an officer in the car?

    Community Answer

Try focusing on one thing at a time. So, do the outline of the window first, then do the officer inside the car. Or, you can skip the detail in the window, do the entire outline of the car, then move on to the inside. looking at references helps with figuring out placement and shading.
